JUNE 05 - INCREASED MEMBRANE OPTIONS

Additions to membrane options at Glidevale Ltd mean the housing industry can source all its high performance pitched roofing and timber frame membrane requirements, from one quality source.

Protect permeable and impermeable roofing underlays are the only complete range to have certification for unrestricted use with regard to wind uplift for all exposure conditions in the UK and Ireland, helping reduce the cost of roof repairs caused by the underlay ballooning under wind pressure and contributing to tiles coming off the roof.

Protect A1 was the first real alternative to traditional 1F felt. Now established as a proven brand, Protect A1 is completely waterproof, UV and heat stabilised. It can be used as a temporary roof covering before installation of the roof tiles or slates. Its dark grey surface reduces glare and easily takes a chalk line marking. Clean and easy to handle, it gives a proven time saving over traditional 1F felt. Protect A1 has been re-engineered to now provide improved strength and nail tear resistance, increasing its on-site performance. Its prominent branding on the upper surface of the product along with unique batch numbering system confirms its pedigree along with UKAS accredited BRE certification.

New to the impermeable range is Protect Wunderlay, a cost effective alternative to Protect A1, which has just been awarded BRE certification.

Protect Wunderlay still provides good strength and nail tear resistance in excess of many of its competitors. The product is also branded and with full batch traceability provides the user with peace of mind.

Protect VP400 is a high performance vapour permeable underlay that is highly vapour permeable yet entirely watertight, with BRE certification for use in both warm and cold pitched roofs. Easy to cut and lightweight to handle, the triple ply construction has been re-engineered to be even tougher, offering enhanced strength and nail tear performance. It is one of the heaviest vapour permeable underlays on the market providing a substantial feel and robust handling during installation, and minimising any potential wind noise problems once in situ.

Protect TF200 vapour permeable membrane has been purpose-designed for use in timber frame buildings, providing a second line of protection for the life of the building. It is proven to provide up to four times the vapour permeability recommended by BRE, TRADA and the NHBC, yet gives good strength, nail tear resistance, high resistance to water, snow and dust penetration into the building and high burst strength. Available in a range of widths and colours, Protect TF200 features a non-reflective embossed and textured surface to minimise surface glare and facilitate installation. Protect TF200 has BBA certification.
